Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

I would like to begin by welcoming you to our community. By selecting Becket’s as the right school for your child, you have all become part of our special school family and we are greatly looking forward to getting to know you and your child over the coming weeks and beyond.

I must begin by stating that, like you, we are very disappointed that our full cohort transition events cannot go ahead this year. We were greatly looking forward to working with Year 6 during the summer term. However, the continuing pandemic and the government’s subsequent decision to delay their plans to remove all social restrictions for safety reasons, has resulted in us being required to adjust our schedule. We are hopeful that our adapted plans allow you to feel reassured and we look forward to introducing your child to Becket’s through our exciting two-day transition event in September.

On the attached documents, there are details of our transition event for the remainder of this half term and the initial week of the autumn term. Please read this document carefully and contact us, as soon as possible, if you have any questions. Additional resources including a parental information video, uniform and P.E. kit guidance, information about school lunches and much more can be found on the school website.

We would like to thank you for entrusting us with your child’s spiritual, social, emotional and academic development over the next five years. We greatly appreciate what an important decision this is and want to reassure you that we intend to do everything in our power to ensure that your child’s time at Becket’s is an experience that they will look back on fondly for the rest of their lives.

We shall contact you with further information in due course. I look forward to working alongside you and your child in the next step of their educational experience and life.

Kind Regards,

Clare Howie

Head of Year 7 and Transition

Transition Events Schedule

Please note, for all events, pupils should arrive at and be collected from the back of school where they will be greeted by the relevant staff. All events will include some time outdoors so please ensure that your child is equipped with outerwear to suit the weather.

Please be aware that, whilst we will do our utmost to ensure all planned events go ahead as scheduled, events may be cancelled at short notice if government guidance dictates that the event poses a safety risk including Covid19-related closures of bubbles within Becket’s and/or specific primary schools. We will endeavour to inform you of any changes as soon as possible.
